When talking about balancing our lives and feeling a sense of harmony in our lives, taking care of ourselves is a HUGE part of that. It’s not an easy thing to do by any means because so much of our time is spent taking care of our families. I know for me personally, it can be hard to focus on myself because I feel selfish when doing so. But it is NOT selfish! We have to take care of ourselves so that we’re able to take care of our families.
Taking care of yourself encompasses various elements including physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Today we’re going to focus on physical health. First off, I’m going to get real with y’all. When I talk about physical health, I don’t think that equates to a certain weight, a certain size, or anything like that. Every person in this world is built differently and should feel confident in their own bodies, no matter what size or shape. I am NOT a size 2 and am confident in my own body because my body was not made to be a size 2. Some women were made to be a size 2 and they are beautiful that way, and some women were made to be a size 12 and are beautiful as size 12. So, when I talk about physical health, that’s exactly what I’m talking about: HEALTH. I’m not talking about being a certain size or weight, I’m talking about being physically healthy, whatever that may mean to you for your body alone, not in comparison with anybody else’s.
For me, being physically healthy is when I’m eating healthy, I’m active, and I feel good about myself. I feel healthy when I am confident and content with my body, not when compared to others but just my body as me. To achieve this physical health, I focus on 2 main components: Eating healthy and exercising. (I write this while making a guilty face because I have NOT worked out at all today. But I am currently wearing yoga pants! So the intention to work out today was definitely there when I got dressed this morning. That counts for something, right?😜)
I am not an expert in workouts or nutrition, I just want to give y’all some of the resources I personally use in these areas of taking care of myself physically, so here we go!
There are a million theories, programs, and books you can find that all have different ideas and promises about losing weight, losing body fat, etc. Each one of them goes through their own phase of popularity at different times. I remember when the big fad was no-carb diets. Let’s get real. I’m going to eat my bread! I love my carbs and I’m going to thoroughly enjoy them. Instead of following some of these different diets that come out, I pretty much stick to my idea that it’s all about balance. Balance what you eat. Should I eat 50 cookies super late at night? Um…probably not. Is it okay to have a sweet treat every once in a while in a small portion? Absolutely! Again, I am not a fitness or nutrition expert by any means, nor is this a dieting meal plan in any way, shape, or form. This is simply a collection of resources I wanted to share with y’all that are all aimed at eating healthy!

I frickin’ ❤️LOVE❤️ yoga! It is my favorite thing to do in the morning after having my first cup of coffee. With yoga, it’s not just about the core strengthening of it that I love, but the combination of that physical component of it paired with the mental aspect. It’s all about centering yourself, focusing, empowering, relaxing…Its all about the flow of it all together, and I’m completely obsessed with it. Try waking up 30 minutes earlier than you usually do, give yourself some much-needed me time, do a quick workout ending with a yoga flow, and take care of yourself physically. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel all around when you feel good physically 😍!
