I’m Klayci, the heart and soul behind HomeGrown Harmony! HomeGrown Harmony is all about balancing individual elements and aspects of life to create peace and contentment in your life as a whole. I am here to provide you with tools and resources to help you achieve harmony in your home, your family, and yourself!
Before launching this blog, I did a TON of research on anything and everything I could find related to blogging. The one thing that was emphasized in everything I read was how important the About Me page is, and it made me so NERVOUS! I sat down and tried to write a few, cutesy, concise statements about myself, and it was so HARD! I deleted each one of them half a million times before finally saying screw it and doing the About Me page all detailed, list-like, and organized because that’s me. So here it goes!
Consists of my amazing husband, my very girly little girl, and my all boy little boy.
- My Family – Not only do I love my family dearly, but I also have a passion for doing everything in my power to create and maintain balanced harmony within our family and our daily home life.
- Music Therapy – Music therapy is defined by the American Music Therapy Association as “the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.” I am a music therapist turned stay-at-home mom who truly believes in the use of music as a therapeutic tool. I am super passionate about music therapy, everything it stands for, and everything it entails. I received my bachelor’s degree in music therapy and became a certified music therapist in 2012. I worked in the field until our firstborn came along but participate in music therapy continuing education as much as I possibly can. I use music as a tool in my life on a daily basis and am so excited to share fun ideas with you all! To learn more about music therapy, visit http://www.musictherapy.org/.
- Helping Others – In elementary school, I was fortunate enough to have an incredible teacher who, instead of ignoring my boredom in class while my peers learned how to read, sent me to the special education classroom to read to a student with visual impairment. From the moment I made that connection with this peer, my life has been filled with a passion for helping others, especially those with special needs. In middle school, I used my piano to connect with a close friend on the autism spectrum, this experience influencing my career choice 10 years later. I’ve worked in numerous settings providing care for kids and adults with special needs, and I feel a true emptiness when this passion in my heart is not being fulfilled. Though my life has often times focused on helping those with special needs, I am passionate about helping all human beings in general. With where my life is at now, my focus and passion of who to help has shifted somewhat, but is still fundamentally based on my passion for helping others. My hope for this blog is to not only share my passions with you but also to help! Help solve problems, provide tools and resources that can help, and help you readers bring a sense of harmony to your homes, your families, and yourselves.
